Dashboards are the landing pages of your intranet. When users first log on, they see the Home dashboard. When they're on any site, they see that site's dashboard. Dashboards consist of the carousel, feed (if set that way) and tiles. Tiles can contain anything from content, to links, people, widgets, and more!
Dashboards can be personalized in different ways, depending on what works best for your organization.
Home dashboards
Site dashboards
At the Manage application level, if home control is set to User, each End user can set and control their own dashboard layouts. If home control is set to App manager, only the App manager can control the dashboard layout (each user will see the same layout).
The feed can also be included on a dashboard or as a separate tab.
The Home default layout takes effect when Home control is set to User. This is the view that a new employee will see when logging in for the first time. After this, employees can customize their own home with layout and tiles of their choice.
Changes to the Home default are automatically saved but only applied to new employees. If you want to apply these changes to all employees' home layouts, you can overwrite home for all users in the segment.
Home dashboards
To assign Home dashboard layout permissions:
- As the App manager, navigate to Manage > Application > Setup. Then from the Governance tab, scroll down until you see Home control. Here, you can choose whether each End user can personalize their layout, or if the App/segment manager will maintain that power. You're also able to configure the default home layout here by clicking Configure home default.
To set up a Home dashboard layout, click the icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the Home page.
Click Change layout, then you can then select whether to include the feed on the dashboard or not. Your available options will change depending on your choice.
You can also choose Edit carousel to decide which content to add to your home carousel from here.
Note:
The Home feed displays all feed posts from sites, people and topics the user is following.
Site dashboards
Similar to Home dashboards, Site dashboards can be configured at the Manage application level. App managers can allow either Site owners/managers or App managers to maintain control over the site settings. To do so:
- Navigate to Manage > Application > Setup. Then from the Governance tab, scroll down until you see Site control.
- Here you can decide to allow Site owners/managers governance over their sites. This is the recommended practice, as it allows for greater autonomy over how their site works. The other option is to give App managers control over site settings. Choosing App manager removes feed from home, sites and content.
To configure Site dashboard layouts, navigate to the site and click the icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
From here, the layout options are the same as the Home dashboard options. You can select whether to include the feed on the dashboard or not. Your available options will change depending on your choice. Then you can decide which content to include in the site carousel.
Comments
Is there a way to track changes/edits made to a dashboard?
Hi Emily. As of now there isn't a way to view history/changes made to a dashboard or any dashboard components. However, this idea is with our Product team for future consideration.
