This article is in reference to Simpplr's legacy Newsletter feature, not the Employee Newsletter. This is only relevant to customers who have not yet upgraded to the Ida release or later.
You're able to gain insight into newsletter analytics just by clicking into the Newsletter section of your intranet.
From the Newsletter list page, you can see information such as:
- Recipients: The segment/users the newsletter was sent to
- Author: Who created the newsletter
- Created date: The date the newsletter was created
- Sent date: Date the newsletter was sent
- Status: The current status of the newsletter (Draft, Scheduled, Sent)
- Opens/clicks: The number of opens and clicks the newsletter received
To access more granular newsletter analytics, click into the newsletter and scroll down. From here you can see the following metrics:
- Opens: The number of unique recipients who opened the newsletter/email
- Total clicks: The total clicks into any content in the newsletter
- Unique clicks: The number of people clicking on any piece of content in the newsletter
- Avg clicks per open: The total number of clicks divided by number of opens
From the global analytics page, App managers can see:
- Newsletters sent: The total number of newsletters sent
- Total recipients: The total number of recipients who received all newsletters
- Avg opens: The total number of opens divided by number of newsletters sent
- Avg clicks: The total number of clicks divided by number of opens

Hello! For the basic newsletter function, the analytics list "opens" and "clicks." Does this mean the number of unique recipients who opened the newsletter/email, and the total clicks into any content in the newsletter?
I'd like the definitions of what these actually meant. Thanks!
What is the click thru rate capturing specifically ?
Hi Maureen. The click thru rate is capturing the percentage of recipients who have clicked at least one link in the newsletter. This is calculated by unique clicks, meaning if the same user clicks the link more than once, only that first click is counted in this equation.
So if the click thru rate is 60% for example, that means 60% of newsletter recipients have clicked at least one link in the newsletter.
Hi -
Can you see which links were clicked on by specific recipients? We are looking to see what team members specifically are interacting with the content.
Also, is it possible to export the analytics in a excel csv file - similar to the metrics from the analytics tab?
Thank you!
Hi Jade. Are you referring to the legacy newsletter or the add-on Employee newsletter? As of now, for the legacy newsletter (which this article refers to), we're not making any more enhancements, and will soon be sunsetting the feature. For the Employee newsletter, the next major release in January, 2024 will feature a CSV export option for analytics. The ability to see which specific users clicked on newsletter links is currently not possible, but I've taken the feedback to our Product team.
Hi, Matthew,
I want to echo Jade's request for the ability to see which specific users clicked on newsletter links. This would be a very useful feature.
Thanks,
Michelle
