We are excited to announce our three mobile-specific Idea tickets are ready to be enabled for customers. These Idea tickets include:

Overview

In the 25.02 release, we rolled out new mobile download options to help organizations manage content more efficiently on mobile devices. These updates will make it easier for users to download images and files within your mobile app.

Important Note: These features are not enabled by default for all customers. We are only enabling these features for customers who have requested them or for those who wish to enable them at the organization level.

Why did we build this?

These features were created in response to requests from customers who wanted more flexibility in how content is managed and accessed on mobile. We recognized that allowing image and file downloads can improve accessibility for users who need offline access or want to download content for future reference.

Who is it for?

This update benefits the following groups:

  • Mobile users: Provide users with the ability to download images and files directly from the mobile app, improving accessibility.
  • Content authors: Empower content creators to share downloadable media with mobile users who may need it for reference or offline use.

How does it work?

Feature availability:

  • These features are only available upon request. Contact your CSM or submit a Support ticket with your request to have it enabled for your org.

Once enabled:

  1. Image downloads: Users will see an option to download images posted in feeds and content pages within the mobile app.
  2. File downloads: Users will see the download option available for files on the file detail page.

  • Hello!

How do I know whether or not I have the latest version of the mobile app?

For the Simpplr One upgrade, the Communications Playbook includes this suggested message: "We will reach out to individuals who are on an old version to request that you update your mobile app."

How do I know who is using an old(er) version of the app? I don't see anything in our analytics showing what version users are on.

    Thanks,

    Michelle Barnes

  • Hi Michelle. All mobile releases are automatically rolled out to your users on the GA date. There is no option to withhold a mobile upgrade.

  • Matthew, if that's true, then this doesn't make sense:

For the Simpplr One upgrade, the Communications Playbook includes this suggested message: "We will reach out to individuals who are on an old version to request that you update your mobile app."

Based on your comment, it sounds like people can't be on an old version of the app.

  • Hi Michelle. Yeah, it's a bit confusing. What that is trying to say is in relation to the Salesforce to AWS migration. By "old version" we mean the Salesforce version of the mobile app, not a previous release. We want to make sure that if your org is moving from Salesforce to AWS, you also have the "new version" of the mobile app (the AWS version), so that your mobile app keeps working.

Hopefully that helps explain it a bit better.

  • OK, so.... when will the AWS version of the mobile app roll out? Not until our cutover date? Or before that?

And, will everyone who has the Salesforce version get a notification on their phone about it, and be prompted to upgrade?

  • Hey Michelle. So the only thing that's going to happen to the app upon migration is your users will be automatically logged out, and the next time they need to access it, they'll be asked to log in again. No new credentials, no new app. Everything remains the same for users; they'll simply need to re-log in to the app the next time they need to access it.
