Blanc Release Notes

Highlights

The Blanc release improves how users interact with and manage their content. The main highlights of this release are:

  • Enhanced Smart Feed: Smart feed now delivers a more personalized approach to delivering content to users. Popular content will automatically be placed at the top of a user’s feed. Popularity algorithms have been improved, and timeline entries are now grouped chronologically.
  • Content Collaboration: Content no longer has to be written by only its publishing author. Any user with edit and publish permissions can now edit content while it’s still in draft. Saving changes to draft content will create a new version, and all versions can be viewed or restored at any time. Anyone who edits a piece of content will get notifications whenever it’s updated.
  • Site Content Managers:  Content management is now available to more than Site Managers. With Blanc, a new role can be given to users: Site Content Manager. Site Content Managers have access to all content management permissions: Add, Edit, Publish, Unpublish, and Approve, but lack other privileges that belong to a Site Manager.
  • Analytics Enhancements: Our improved analytics show you where traffic is going in your intranet (dashboards, profiles, org charts, etc.). With newly-introduced analytics on app page views and referral sources, you can see the most effective ways of getting users to your published content.
  • Content/Notification APIs: Our content and notification APIs let you create and manage content programmatically, outside of the Simpplr app.
  • Search Enhancements and Filters: Finding what you need in Simpplr is easier than ever. Enterprise Search enhances the search experience by learning what users are searching for, and predicting the results that best meet their needs. Search in Simpplr is further streamlined with filters for content, people, and intranet files.
  • Give Feedback: Blanc has improved the way users can give feedback to the Simpplr team. Feedback is now categorized with additional options in the Help & Feedback dropdown. Click on the Help & Feedback button in the footer (bottom left) of your org and let us know your thoughts!
  • ServiceNow v3:  Blanc lets you set the impact of ServiceNow tickets while creating and updating them in Simpplr.
  • Page Language Translation: Viewing content in a different language? Pages now include a link to translate their content into your app’s current language.
  • Topic Recommendations: Blanc introduces a new way to add relevant topics to content you create. For English language users, topic suggestions can be found under the topic field when creating content.

Enhanced Smart Feed

The Blanc release makes Simpplr even more user-friendly. With Smart Feed, we’ve developed a more personalized approach to delivering popular content to users. By aggregating popular content directly in a user’s feed, Smart Feed ensures:

  • Content is delivered to users on a personal level.
  • Content suggestions only appear when relevant.
  • Popularity algorithms have been improved to promote active engagement.

Display popular content

Your feed now shows popular content from the sites and people you follow. Now, rather than check out their dashboards for personalized content, users will see popular content directly in their feed. Check out Popular content to see the posts, albums, blogs, and events that are generating the most interest in your followed sites.

Grouped timeline entries

The Annapurna release introduced timeline entries on users’ feeds. If a user follows a site or blog that publishes new content, a timeline entry will automatically be created in the user’s feed.

With Blanc, we’ve grouped timeline entries together chronologically. Check out Recently published to see entries published to sites you follow in a similar timeframe.

Site Content Managers

The Blanc release introduces a new role to Simpplr: Site Content Managers. Before Blanc, only App Managers and Site Owners could add, edit, publish, unpublish, or approve site content. Now they can designate Content Managers with those privileges. Unlike App Managers and Site Owners, Content Managers don’t have administrative permissions for a site. They can only control content.

Like Site Managers and Owners, Site Content Managers get notifications for all content approvals on the site. Check Notifications to see pending approvals.

Content Collaboration

The Blanc release allows colleagues to share and collaborate on all Simpplr content inside the app. This includes collaboration on:

  • Pages
  • Albums
  • Events

A collaborator can be any user with edit and publish permissions on a site: App Manager, Site Owner, Site Manager, and Site Content Manager. These users can edit any site content.

To begin content collaboration, open the content’s edit window to create a draft. There can't be multiple users editing the content at the same time. If another collaborator clicks Edit while a user is already editing the content, they’ll be notified that changes are already in progress.

Note: If a user is inactive for 30 minutes while editing, their edit window will automatically close, any unsaved changes will be lost, and the content can be edited by other users.

Version history

Saving or updating your draft content changes will create a new version. Open the dropdown next to Edit and click Version history to see all versions.

Click on a version’s eye icon to view it.

If you want to restore a particular version, open it and click Restore this version next to Edit. Doing so will create a new version with the restored version.

We have APIs for automated push notifications, alerts, app searches, and content creation. Click on an endpoint to see sample code along with descriptions of its parameters and responses.

If you’d like to see our APIs, just add /apex/apiexplorer to your instance’s base URL.
