How do I add or remove content in the home dashboard carousel?

Only the App manager can add or remove the content in the home dashboard carousel.

  1. Click the dots at the upper right-hand corner of the carousel. Click Edit carousel. You will see a list of content currently in the carousel. You also get a high level view of each content's analytics.

  2. To remove the content, click the x next to the content. If you see Personalized item next to any given content in the list, you can't remove it, as the Personalized carousel is enabled. The App manager can disable this feature in the same menu. Carousel edit new 1.png
  3. To add new content or campaigns, search for the content or campaign in the Search content & campaigns to add to carousel field, and select it.

  • Question about carousel limits:

    • What is the maximum number of items that can be placed in the carousel?

    Appreciate your kind help.

  • Hi Brian. I'm not sure the exact limit to content you can add to the carousel, but best practice is to not overwhelm your users, and keep it at a maximum of 10-12 pieces of content at any time. I tested this in my own demo environment and was able to add 41 pieces of content before running out, but that's definitely not recommended.

  • Hi, is there any plan to add a function to the home and site carousels which would automate when they are unpublished?

For instance, after an event that is featured in a carousel's date has passed, it would be automatically deleted from the carousel. So, like a news item, we could put an end date somewhere and it would automatically be deleted for us, rather than having to remember to delete it ourselves. Future feature?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Mary, great question! This should be the default functionality with personalized carousel. Users shouldn't receive older content (like expired events) if they have personalized carousel enabled. However, with the normal carousel enabled, it's still a manual process to go in and remove content, even if it's a past event. I went ahead and brought your feedback to our Product team to get looked at for a future release.
